GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) -- Germany forward Lewis Holtby has decided to leave Schalke when his contract with the Bundesliga club expires at the end of this season.
Schalke said Friday that Holtby rejected a proposed contract extension. It wasn't immediately clear where he might go.
News of Holtby's departure comes days after Netherlands striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar extended his Schalke contract for another two years until June 2015.
