Hattie displays artwork at Twinsburg library

Hattie Larlham Creative Arts will dis-

play artwork at the Twinsburg Public Library through Dec. 29. Hattie Larlham Creative Arts is a program operated by Hattie Larlham, which empowers people with developmental disabilities to communicate through artistic expression.

The artists work with trackers (professional artists) who become an extension of the artist by carrying out the specific intent of each artist. The tracker remains entirely neutral in the process to make sure the artist's singular vision is achieved. The process results in a carefully crafted, one-of-a-kind piece that provide a glimpse into the world of artists who often cannot speak for themselves.

Hattie Larlham Creative Arts began in 2007 with just six artists, and has expanded to 87 artists. The program began with painting and now enables its participants to work in paint, photography, pottery and poetry. Works from the Hattie Larlham Creative Arts program have sold for as much as $2,000 and displayed throughout the U.S. They have also been juried at several prestigious national art shows. The display at the Twinsburg Public Library will allow Twinsburg residents to see these inspiring works of art up close.
