Twin Rappers'

Kick off Twins Days weekend by meeting twin authors and rappers Kat and Margaret King, Aug. 5 from 4 to 5 p.m. The "King Twin Rappers" will demonstrate their award-winning abilities.

Join in the library parking lot for a family movie under the stars Aug. 5 from 9 to 11 p.m. Bring chairs or blankets and snacks. The event is for all ages and rated PG.

Food Olympics:

Cooking contest set

Show off those cooking skills Aug. 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library. Prepare an appetizer or dessert for the panel of celebrity judges to enjoy and critique. Judges will include Brandt Evans, owner and chef at Pura Vida and chef and partner at Blue Canyon Kitchen and Tavern; Paul Ackman, from Red's Catering; and Kathleen Reppl, family and consumer science teacher at Twinsburg High School. Gold, silver and bronze medal winners will be awarded prizes in each category. Registration is required. This is for adults and youth 15 years and older.

Begin with braids

"How to Hair: Beginning Braids" will be Aug. 4 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the library. Mystified by french braids? Never heard of a fish tail? Learn how to make them at this event for children entering grades 3 through 7, with an adult or caregiver.

Magic show Aug. 5

Celebrate the final day of the Summer Reading Club with "Extreme Magic with Dave," Aug. 5 from 1 to 1:45 p.m. This event is for families with children of all ages.

Dance and work out

Zumba will be Aug. 4 from 11 a.m. to noon at the library. Enjoy this high-spirited dance workout with a certified Zumba instructor. Register for each session separately. A $5 fee per class is payable to the instructor. Bring cash.

War series continues

In 1973, John L. Haigh, Sr., volunteered to be part of the 89th Military Airlift Wing of the United States Air Force. The 89th was the home of Air Force One, the President's plane. Haigh set his sights on becoming a permanent crew member. In 1979, he got his wish and was assigned to Air Force One serving President Jimmy Carter, President Ronald Reagan and President George H.W. Bush. Hear Haigh's story Aug. 13 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Just a reminder ...

The Twinsburg Public Library will be closed Aug. 6 for the Twins Days Parade and Festival. The library will reopen Aug. 7 at 1 p.m.
