The legacy of service to country lives on through six trees, secured from local nurseries by the Twinsburg Garden Club as part of the 2015 Cost of Freedom Memorial and planted in Twinsburg, Reminderville and Twinsburg Township.

Twinsburg VFW Post 4929, which sponsored the 2015 traveling tribute that drew more than 16,000 people over the Fourth of July weekend, recently began installing dedication plaques for the trees.

The Nursery Growers of Lake County Association and Suncrest Gardens in Peninsula donated the trees.

"VFW and Garden Club members all agreed that the landscaping for the event was extremely complementary and beautiful," said Twinsburg Garden Club co-president Sue Davis.

VFW Commander Joe Jasany and Chaplain Dave Murch recently installed the first dedication plaque at the base of a tree near Reminderville Municipal Center.

The plaque reads:

"This tree is dedicated to our military forces and first responders for service to our nation, VFW Post 4929 Twinsburg, Ohio, Cost of Freedom July 2-5, 2015."

The trees and sites include: a white birch tree in front of Twinsburg Public High School; a service berry tree in the Library Garden at the Twinsburg Public Library; a magnolia tree near the Twinsburg Community Center; a white birch tree planted along a path in Liberty Park; a river birch planted near the Reminderville Municipal Center, 3288 Glenwood Boulevard; and a magnolia tree planted in front of Twinsburg Township Hall at 1790 Enterprise Parkway.
