Twinsburg -- After a successful season in regional competitions across Northeast Ohio, Artistry in Motion dancers can now call themselves National Champions.
The competition troupe traveled to Ocean City, Md., in early July to compete in the Believe National Talent Competition.
In several categories and age divisions, dancers swept the awards by earning first, second and third places. Additionally, two of the team's first-place numbers were invited to compete again in the event's "Battle of the Beach," a re-competition of the best-of-the-best.
A routine called "Wicked Ones" took third in its division, and the group's large production number "Fun in the Sun" won the "Battle of the Beach" and took home the championship trophy.
"The dancers took their performances to an even higher level than they have all year," said Janet Carey, owner and artistic director of A.I.M. "They have worked hard and it was wonderful to see it pay off at the national level. I also love that they got to have fun with our dance family on the beach and enjoy their time together. We can't wait to be bigger and better next year."
A.I.M's dancers comprise local dancers between 3 and 18 years, from many local communities.
In other A.I.M. news, Ryan Rosinski was hired as the team's new hip hop teacher and choreographer. Rosinski is a professional dancer and instructor. He has appeared in auditions for "So You Think You Can Dance" and "America's Got Talent."
Open registration for new students for fall classes were set to begin Aug. 9. Contact Artistry in Motion for details. For more information call 330-425-7659.
