Twinsburg -- The Twinsburg Fire Department made more than 145 stops throughout the community in its fourth annual Santa's Gift Run Dec. 11.
Individuals, organizations and businesses came together for the event, during which the fire department loans the jolly elf one of its fire engine, then stops and delivers gifts to children in Twinsburg and Twinsburg Township. Santa was assisted by fire department members and elves from Turle's Gymnastics.
Assistant Chief Steve Bosso said the department has everything "down to a science," but that it's still a thrill to see the facial expressions -- both young and old -- as Santa passes out gifts from a fire engine.
"That never gest old," Bosso said. "It's not just the kids, the adults, they like it as well. They like to see their kids happy."
K&M donated so that Santa and the fire department could give gifts to children who were watching from the road but did not have parents drop off a gift in advance, Bosso said.
"If we saw them watching us, we used the donations to give them a gift," Bosso said. "Everyone got a gift."
Other helpers that day included Twinsburg Tiger Football, Twinsburg High School and Twinsburg Fire Explorers (for also playing elves); Twinsburg's K&M International; Gionino's Pizza; Mr. Chicken; Blue Canyon; Sassy's; Beaver Petroleum; and the Rotary Club of Twinsburg.
Parents interested in having Santa stop by can drop off gift for child at fire department in advance, Bosso said. In addition, any individual, organization or business is welcome to participate.
"We are always looking for more partners," Bosso said.
