Youth Services: Junior Spelling bee
Registration is open for second and third graders in the Twinsburg City School District who wish to participate in the Junior Spelling Bee, to take place March 11. Attend the Teen Advisory Board meeting
Join the Teen Advisory Board meeting Feb. 21 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and play games, eat pizza and brainstorm some great new ideas for the Twinsburg Public Library. Teens can receive community service hours for attending. Register by calling 330-425-4268 ext. 6; going to the library'swebsite; or by stopping at the library. This is for students in grades 7-12.
Engage the senses
An interactive program that engages children through movement, music, stories and sensory play will be Feb. 25 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the library. It can be enjoyed by all children but is ideal for those who have a hard time in large groups, are on the autism spectrum or have sensory integration challenges. There will be sensory and social opportunities during the second half hour of the program. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Calling Pokemon trainers
Calling all Pokemon trainers to the library Feb. 25 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Bring cards or Nintendo DS to trade and battle your Pokemon. There will be Pokemon-related activities for youth in kindergarten through eighth grade and an adult. No registration is required.
Adult Services:Introduction to Spanish I
Introduction to Spanish I begins Feb. 21 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the library. This six-week class is taught by a Kent State University instructor. There is a $10 non-refundable fee due before the start of the class. Note that this was originally scheduled as Spanish II in the library's January and February mailers.
Lyrical Langston: His life in music and verse
Enjoy this literary concert Feb. 25 from 2 to 3 p.m., offering a biographical narrative of iconic poet and writer Langston Hughes' life and works. The event includes prose and poetry by and about him, accompanied by a solo violinist.

On display ...
The art gallery is featuring the "Portraits of Homelessness" collection, photography taken and stories recorded by Lydia Bailey. It draws attention to the Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry's Men's Shelter at 2100 Lakeside in Cleveland. The large display cases also contain copies of the "Explore Twinsburg" books, as well as various objects associated with Twinsburg's history. And don't forget to check out the small display cases which contain Leanne Meier's heart box collection.
