TWINSBURG -- The Ashlar Lodge No. 639 on Shepard Road paid tribute to three of Twinsburg's "community builders" March 11 at the Summit Masonic Lodge.

Those honored included Gabbi Santacessaria, Elana Felber and Zoe Felber, all of Twinsburg, for their continuing work with Relay For Life of Twinsburg/Nordonia. Each received a commemorative certificate.

Relay For Life is a community event that raises funds for cancer research and the American Cancer Society. Each year, committees organize local activities, such as the chili-cook off and walkathons, to raise money. For the second year, the Ashlar Masonic Lodge has partnered with Relay through a chili cook-off. The fundraiser over the last two years has raised more than $700.

Charity is an important tenet of the Masonic fraternity. The 90,000 Ohio Masons provide about $15 million in charitable giving annually, including college scholarships, support for the Special Olympics Summer Games and free training for Ohio school teachers to help recognize students in non-academic risk.
