Youth Services: Kids in the Kitchen
"Kids in the Kitchen: Totally Toddlers" will be June 24 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. These littlest chefs will learn how to help in the kitchen and make their own snacks. Make sure to wear an outfit that you don't mind getting messy. This is for ages 18 months to 3 years with a caregiver.
'Happy Feet' is June 25
Join for a half-hour of moving and grooving to some tunes, June 25 from 3 to 3:30 p.m. This is for children ages 2 years and older with a caregiver.
Kindergarten Academy begins
Give a child a taste of kindergarten with this fun, educational series, beginning June 26 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants in this class can learn about location and retelling. The class and activities are from 11 a.m. to noon. Bring a peanut-free bagged lunch for a cafeteria-feel as children watch a video pertaining to the skills of the day from noon to 12:30 p.m. This is for children entering kindergarten in fall 2017 or 2018.
Fashion in space
Stop by the Twinsburg Public Library June 28 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. for a look at the future of fashion in space. Ever wonder what fashion will look like in the future? Design and make futuristic clothes with wacky materials at this program, and be ready to travel outer space in style. This is for students entering fifth through 12th grade.
'Voices of the Hill' screened June 23
"Voices of the Hill" will be screened June 23 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Join for this special screening of the 2017 Cleveland Film Festival documentary, filmed by local teenagers, a heartfelt tribute to the hardworking men and women who built Twinsburg Heights through blood, sweat and tears. Popcorn and lemonade will be served.
Learn about total solar eclipse
A total solar eclipse will be visible in North America this year, but what causes a solar eclipse? Discover answers to these questions and more from presenter and professional astronomer Kevin Manning, June 24 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Why is it "total?" Do other events like this happen in the universe? This is for ages 8 years through adult.
Join for 'Music in the Garden'
The next Music in the Garden will be June 25 from 2 to 3 p.m. Join for the library's seventh annual Music in the Garden summer music series of free one-hour concerts. Popular singer/entertainer Greg Piscura will perform renditions of songs from the Great American Songbook. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in meeting rooms 1, 2 and 3.
Space movie Mondays are June 26
Join for space movie Mondays June 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. Explore the universe with library friends by viewing the second of four popular movies about space. Admission, popcorn and lemonade are on the library. Refreshments will be served 10 minutes prior to start time.
Celebrate 50-Book Challenge
The 50-Book Challenge will be June 27 from 7 to 8 p.m. and invites people to celebrate the halfway point. David Gray from Gray & Co. Publishers will talk about the book publishing world from a Northeast Ohio perspective. Challengers who have read 25 books or more in 2017 will receive their prizes. Any past or present challenger who is missing a prior year's prize may ask for a replacement. Refreshments, prizes and chances to win advanced reader copies of books publishing in 2017.
