TWINSBURG -- The Rotary Club of Twinsburg is calling all water sport enthusiasts to participate in a Sunday series of kayaking trips down Tinkers Creeks.
The unique "Rotary River Run" fundraiser will begin July 9, and continue July 16 and 30, to raise money for the non-profit service club. The club invites participants, novice or skilled, to get on board for this exciting outdoor adventure.
Canoe-like boats with two-bladed paddles, kayaks were introduced to North America thousands of years ago. Today, interest in the sport is soaring. A challenging kayak ride on Tinkers Creek will provide summer fun for all.
The first run of each day is at 10 a.m. and the last run is 4 p.m. Kayaks launch at East Idlewood Park, with Glen Meadow Park as the destination site. Vehicle parking is at Glen Meadow Park, Field No. 4 on Morraine Drive. Shuttle buses provide transportation both to and from the starting/ending sites.
A $15 fee covers one-person and one kayak. The cost includes: kayak, oar and life jacket rental plus picnic fare (hot dog, chips, and bottled water) served at the end of the run. Those 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult, 18-years and older.
For more information or to sign-up, call 330-888-5276 or 440-821-4344 or visit clubrunner.ca/twinsburg/. All fundraiser proceeds will be used for community service programs. Rotary awards scholarships to Twinsburg High School students, sends youth to leadership training programs and gives dictionaries to local third-graders.
Individual and business fundraiser sponsorships are available.
