Youth Services: Spend a Very Messy Thursday

A "Very Messy Thursday" will be July 6 from 6:30 to 7 p.m. at the Twinsburg Public Library. Get messy at the library with activities and crafts for babies and toddlers. Remember to wear clothes you don't mind getting messy. This is for children birth through 36 months with a caregiver. Registration is required.

My first summer

"My first summer will be July 8 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Celebrate baby's first summer with some keepsake crafts. Make clay footprints (or handprints) and decorate a photo frame. This is for children ages birth to 18 months with a caregiver. Registration is required.

Enjoy open mic night

Open mic night will be at the library July 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Perform music, recite poetry, do standup or even a short skit. Sign up for a spot and come to the Reading Garden or the meeting rooms, depending on the weather. This is for teens ages 12 and older. Performers must register; audience members do not need to register.

Toddler story time and yoga

Explore the moon and stars through stories, yoga poses and play, at the Shining Stars program, July 11 through 25 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the Twinsburg Public Library. Bring a mat or towel. Plan to attend all three weeks. This is for toddlers ages 1 to 3 years with a caregiver. Registration is required.

Make a summer craft

Make a summer craft at the library July 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Youth entering grades 6 through 12 can beat the heat in Teen Crossings when they drop-in to draw and color. No registration is required.

'Girl Power'is July 13

Join for "Girl Power" July 13 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the library. Manage the day-to- day stresses of teenage life with "mindful journaling." This is for girls in grades 5 and up. Registration is required.

Adult Services: War and Remembrance continues

The library's award-winning War & Remembrance series continues July 8 from 11 a.m. to noon at the library, featuring Jay Musson who served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. Musson is a founding member of American Legion Post 808 at the University of Akron.

Irv Korman: 'Antuan Was Hear'

Author Irv Korman will talk about his new book, "Antuan Was Hear: 30 Years of Kids Quotes," July 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Korman worked in the Akron Public School system for 30 years. In this book he remembers the most notable quotes from his career. Korman is not only an author, but also an actor, speaker, theatre critic and magician. Don't miss this exciting evening.
