Twinsburg -- The Twinsburg City School District invites the community to a ribbon-cutting celebration for its refurbished tennis courts.
The ceremony will be Aug. 15 at 3 p.m. before the Twinsburg High School girls' varsity tennis match against Normandy. The tennis courts are located behind R.B. Chamberlin Middle School at 10270 Ravenna Road.
The five refurbished courts were part of the Twinsburg City School District's summer capital projects and will be used by both the girls' and boys' Tiger tennis teams. They will also be available for community use.
Due to normal wear-and-tear over the years, the courts' surface had become slippery, cracked and worn. The renovated courts feature lighting for use after dusk, and the new courts are cloaked in blue and white paint to align with the school colors. The design includes the Twinsburg Block "T" logo.
In addition to providing new, smoother surfaces and an improved drainage system, the courts have nets similar to those used at Wimbledon, providing first-class courts for Twinsburg student athletes and members of the community.
