Akron Zips named to dean's list
Congratulations to the more than 3,500 students who made the fall 2016 dean's list at the University of Akron. To be eligible for the list, students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 to 3.99, and be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours. Twinsburg Zips on UA President's List
More than 800 University of Akron students have been named to the President's List following the 2016 fall semester. To qualify, students must be undergraduate, enrolled full-time and achieve a 4.0 grade point average for the semester. Twinsburg students named to the list included Leah Edwards, Samantha Fazio, Nickolaus Gotsiridze, Punita Peketi, Laurel Wardell and Abigail Zerull.
The dean's list for the fall 2016 semester at the University of Findlay includes Twinsburg students Tiffany Ivey, Juliana Koballa, Ashley Lesko and Gina Moschella. To earn this achievement, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Leah Berdysz of Twinsburg is among a group of John Carroll University students who recently traveled to Nicaragua in January 2017 as part of immersion experiences sponsored by the university's Office of Campus Ministry. Immersion experiences challenge students to engage the realities of the world while reflecting on the values of human dignity and servant leadership. For the 11th consecutive year, John Carroll partnered with Augsburg College's Center for Global Education and Experience to offer an immersion experience in the urban and rural regions Nicaragua. Students explored the multifaceted issue of free/fair trade, met with representatives from agriculture and craft cooperatives, and participated in homestays in the neighborhoods surrounding Managua and in the hills of Esteli.
Students receive degrees at Miami
Twinsburg students recently graduated from Miami University, receiving their degrees during fall commencement exercises Dec. 13, 2016, at Millett Hall. They included Emily Jean Ohneck (doctor of philosophy in microbiology); Kaitlin Elizabeth Peffer (bachelor of arts in English); and Harry H. Reu (bachelor of science in kinesiology).
Bogdany named at Capital University
Capital University has announced its President's List for the fall 2016 semester, and Benedict DiFranco of Reminderville has been named to the list. The President's List indicates the highest level of academic distinction at Capital. To be named to the list, students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.85.
Capital University also announced its dean's list honorees for fall 2016 semester, including Jonathon Bogdany of Twinsburg. To be named to the list, full-time students must have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5.
Local college students recently graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea in December, including Felicia Battle of Twinsburg, graduating cum laude with a bachelor of arts in human resource management.
College of Wooster
Gina Williamson, a graduate of Twinsburg High School, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at The College of Wooster. Williamson, a senior psychology and Spanish double major from Twinsburg, achieved a grade point average of 3.65 or above.
Hillsdale College names Hawersaat to dean's list
Hillsdale College has announced that Twinsurg resident Gina Hawersaat, a junior history major, has been named to the dean's list at the school for the fall semester 2016. Gina is the daughter of Jim and Donna Hawersaat of Sandalwood Drive.
