HIRAM -- The Communications Factory of Hiram recently announced its selection of Twinsburg High School senior Grace Prorok as the firm's 15th college scholarship recipient.
Prorok, a senior at Twinsburg High School, earned the $1,000 award from the ad agency to help her offset some of the costs associated with college. Chosen from a large field of highly qualified applicants from across Northeast Ohio, Communications Factory officials say Prorok demonstrated a knack for balancing academic rigors with her extracurricular activities.
These included work with the Boy Scouts of America, where she was honored with the youth Venturing Leadership Award for her outstanding efforts. Prorok also earned membership in the National Technical Honor Society based on her excellent academic performance.
Prorok will attend Kent State University in the fall where she will pursue a communication and information degree in digital media production. Brad Turner, plant manager of the Communications Factory, says he continues to be impressed by the turnout for his firm's annual scholarship.
"Each year I'm thrilled with the caliber of intelligent and hardworking young adults who apply," he said. "This year is no different. We're proud to support future leaders like Grace with our scholarship."
Prorok joins 14 previous winners of the scholarship from across Northeast Ohio, including students from Crestwood, Rootstown, Field, Cardinal, Revere, Chardon, Hudson, Stow, Willoughby, Warren, Akron and Jefferson. The scholarship will be awarded again next year to another deserving area high school senior.
