Published: October 12, 2016 12:00 AM

The musicians of Voices of Canton, Inc. will perform their first concert of the 2016-17 season with new artistic director Dr. Jon C. Peterson on Oct. 16 at St. Joseph Church of Massillon at 3 p.m. Downton Downtown will feature music by many of the greatest British composers interspersed with dramatic dialogue that brings back memories of the hit PBS series Downton Abbey.

Lady Alice, Duchess of Kirkwood, a fictional second cousin of the "Dowager Countess" from Downton along with her niece, Millicent Danford, will guide the audience through the program while recalling pivotal moments from the TV series. The chorus will be joined by a chamber orchestra in the music of Sir Hubert Parry, Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams, G.F. Handel and Sir Edward Elgar. The audience will even have a couple of opportunities to sing along.

Downton Downtown will be at St. Joseph Church of Massillon, 322 Third St SE, Massillon. Tickets may be purchased online at www.voicesofcanton.org, by calling VOCI at 330-452-4098 or at the door beginning one hour prior to concert time.
