TWINSBURG -- During the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce 2012 Businessperson of the Year award luncheon, Chamber President Tim Edgington stepped down, with Peter DeSouza taking his place.
DeSouza, who has been with the Chamber of Commerce for three years, said he plans to make the Chamber's core mission of supporting the business community his top priority in 2013.
"We will be having a planning session to kick off and set specific objectives and goals for 2013 in January," DeSouza said. "The primary focus … will be to bring that mission back to the center stage."
Using his skills in marketing, DeSouza plans to ensure the Chamber of Commerce continues to serve the businesses, government and schools of Twinsburg.
"My own background is in marketing and branding," DeSouza said. "We will be looking to brand the chamber in a way that is unique and different and still relevant to the stakeholders that we serve. [Edgington] did a fantastic job. He is handing the chamber off in a much better state than he found it, and I think we are going to build on that."
