The Sandy Hook
Elementary School atrocity has taken evil to a new level. What kind of sick mind would lead someone to perpetrate such a terrible act? We may never know what motivated the gunman, and we may never know all the facts of what happened.
I do not own a gun. However, I believe one person in the school in Newtown, Conn., who possessed a firearm and was trained to use it, could have prevented many deaths. Criminals pay no more attention to "gun free zone" signs than a drunk at a bar pays attention to a sign that says "do not drink and drive." According to reports, the principal lunged at the gunman, but to what avail? What chance did she have?
I saw an article about technology that will allow a person to "print" a weapon, with special equipment.
Criminals will always have guns. Declaring a gun free zone does nothing but encourage criminals to fearlessly enter and commit crimes. There is a fine line between personal liberties and personal responsibilities. Americans have the constitutional right to defend themselves, and the obligation to protect our children.
