Akron - Summit County Juvenile Court Judge Linda Tucci Teodosio understands that it isn't easy for someone unfamiliar with courts to navigate the specialized juvenile justice system.
That's why she created the Court's Attorney Help Desk.
And beginning Oct. 5, Help Desk services will be available most of the day on Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. until noon as well the usual 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
"The Attorney Help Desk is designed to provide consultation with local attorneys at no charge. The attorneys will provide guidance and assistance on how to complete forms such as Grandparent Affidavits, Petitions for Change of Legal Custody, Preparations of Subpoenas and Obtaining Service of Process," according to a press release about the increased hours.
Those seeking help are seen on a first-come-first-serve basis. Visitors wishing to talk to a lawyer should sign in at the front desk in the man lobby of the William P. Kannel Juvenile Court Center, 650 Dan Street.
Help Desk attorneys may not provide information to anyone who has already retained council or has had a lawyer appointed by the court. The attorneys providing assistance are not allowed to file paperwork for or represent in court those using the free service.
