Twinsburg - Tour the fire station, check out the equipment and see a MedEvac helicopter up close at the Twinsburg Fire Department Open House Oct. 12, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at 10069 Ravenna Road.

Anyone 13-year-old or over can participate in a hands-on fire extinguisher demonstration, using the new fire simulator purchased with a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, said Assistant Fire Chief Steve Bosso.

Visitors can check out fire trucks and other safety vehicles - even climb aboard to see the view from the driver's seat - and meet mascot Sparky the Fire Dog and Twinsburg Police K9 Yasso and his partner/handler, Officer Yamil Encarnacion.

Yasso, with Encarnacion, will also participate in a search and rescue demonstration.

There will be light refreshments, face painting, balloons, and lots of safety information to take home.
