A 20-year-old Oakwood Village man is scheduled to go to trial in the Portage County Court of Common Pleas May 23 on several charges in connection with two armed robberies in Kent.

Eugene Jordan Littlejohn was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of kidnapping in connection with two armed robberies at the Safeway Food Store on Fairchild Ave. He was arrested Jan. 25.

Littlejohn also pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery in Twinsburg, for allegedly twice robbing the Best Stop on Ravenna Road at gunpoint. The case is set to go to trial in Summit County Court of Common Pleas, though no trial information had been posted as of press time March 6.

He is scheduled to appear before Judge Becky L. Doherty and was assigned a public defender.

According to police, the Twinsburg and Kent police departments jointly investigated the case leading to the arrest of Littlejohn, who is believed to have robbed the Best Stop in Twinsburg on Jan. 10 and Jan. 24; and the Safeway Food Store on Fairchild Avenue in Kent on Jan. 3 and Jan. 22.

In the Jan. 10 incident at Best Stop, two men reportedly entered the store around 8:35 p.m. and stole an undisclosed amount of money and a cell phone. One of the suspects had a black handgun, according to the police report. A clerk at the Best Stop called police to report the robbery, but the suspects fled before police arrived.

The second suspect, KeShon Latre Lett, 21, of Bedford Heights, was arrested Feb. 8 at a Bedford residence and charged with aggravated robbery. His case was bound over Feb. 16 to the Summit County Court of Common Pleas. No other information was available at press time.

In the Jan. 24 incident, which occurred just after 9 p.m., police were again called to the Best Stop on a panic alarm. Responding officers met with two store employees, who said they were robbed at gunpoint. The single suspect this time took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area in a vehicle.

No injuries were reported in any of the four incidents, according to police.
