TWINSBURG -- Katie Johnson of the Twinsburg Public Library has been named a "Mover & Shaker" in the library industry by the national publication, the Library Journal.

In its March 15 issue, Library Journal named 52 outstanding professionals, including Johnson of Hudson, committed to providing excellent service and shaping the future of libraries.

Johnson was selected due to her commitment to the profession, according to the journal.

Starting in 2015, she initiated a partnership with Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority, with the support of the Twinsburg Public Library Administration and Board of Trustees, to create the program "Play, Learn and Grow" at Pinewood Gardens.

The program is designed for children up to five years old and their caregivers, and works to bring library and support services to families who are unable to travel to the library.

Johnson serves as community outreach librarian at Twinsburg Public Library, coordinating community outreach and driving the library's mobile library throughout town. She works with children, families and seniors throughout the community. She previously served as youth services manager at the library for eight years.

Johnson attended Kent State University, where she received her bachelor's degree in business administration and her graduate degree in library and information science. She lives in Hudson with her husband and four children.

The 2017 "Movers & Shakers" were selected by editors of Library Journal. Each of the honorees will be celebrated at a reception in June during the American Library Association's annual conference in Chicago, Ill. Visit www.libraryjournal.com/movers for more information.
