TWINSBURG -- The annual Memorial Day Parade and service will be May 29, marching from Twinsburg High School down Ravenna Road and concluding with a somber service to the nation's fallen on Twinsburg Township Square.
Twinsburg VFW Post 4929 and Auxiliary will once again organize the parade. Those interested in participating can contact the VFW 4929 at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 330-425-7162.
The parade forms at Twinsburg High School at 10 a.m. and proceeds to Twinsburg Township Square promptly at 10:30 a.m. Decorated patriotic floats, vehicles and bicycles are all welcome. There will be an open house at the VFW Post Museum on the Square after the service.
Last year, about 30 groups stepped off from Twinsburg High School to begin the march.
Hundreds of people are expected to line the nearly mile-long parade route, applauding, standing in salute or holding a hand over their heart as the post's color guard came into view.
In the parade, the leading color guard is traditionally followed by Twinsburg Police Explorers marching single file, each carrying the flag of a branch of the military -- and one to honor those missing in action.
Twinsburg VFW members and auxiliary come next, followed by two vehicles carrying veterans.
The units make their way to the Square, where hundreds are expected to gather to honor those who gave their lives for country.
The service will once again honor the area's 29 fallen soldiers from four wars.
