TWINSBURG -- As the calendar turns from spring to greet the boys of summer, the Twinsburg Baseball League is getting set for its opening day April 29 at Liberty Park.
"On all levels of baseball, opening day is something to be celebrated by players, fans, family and friends," said Twinsburg Baseball League President Rich Swerbinsky. "We've spent a lot of time and energy trying to make TBL's opening day as special as possible for the kids of the community, and this year's should be our best yet."
Games will be on all four fields at Liberty Park, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the day. More than 40 teams comprising 500 players will play on opening day, and more than 2,000 spectators are expected throughout the day.
Opening ceremonies start at 8:45 a.m. with Mayor Ted Yates throwing out the first pitch. The Color Guard will be in attendance and there will be a live singing of the national anthem.
In addition to the baseball action, local businesses and sponsors of the TBL will have booths and tents set up at Liberty Park offiering food, prizes, giveaways and more.
