The regularly scheduled monthly weather warning test was cancelled May 6 due to heavy call volume by safety forces around noon.
"Since each site needs to be staffed to witness the complete operation -- sound, rotation and strobe -- of all nine siren sites, the test could not performed," said Steve Bosso, assistant fire chief. "The buzz on social media was that some people heard our tornado sirens. This didn't happen. Since our dispatch center did not activate the system, those residents most likely heard Solon' s test or the sirens form our apparatus responding to calls."
The test has been rescheduled for May 13 at noon.
