TWINSBURG -- Thomas R. Mazanec has been awarded with the Advanced Communicator Silver award in the Toastmasters International Education Program.

Mazanec is a founding member of Twinspirations Toastmasters, a public speaking and leadership development club that meets weekly in Twinsburg. Mazanec is known among the members of Twinspirations to be an "excellent, witty and humorous speaker," according to a June 5 release from Twinspirations.

Working with his mentor, Sravanthi Vallampati, Mazanec has honed his skills as an orator. For example, he readily creates an emotional connection with his audience in an indescribable way that all great speakers do. His topics are often intellectual in nature, sci-fi being one of his favorites. Himself a mentor to other speakers, Mazanec is an excellent speech evaluator who enjoys helping others improve their speaking skills.

To achieve ACS status, a Toastmaster must complete the 10 speeches in the competent communication manual and complete four manuals from an advanced communication series, for a total of 30 speeches.

Mazanec was presented with the ACS certificate of achievement on May 15. Twinspirations officials say Mazanec is well on his way to the highest recognition in Toastmasters, "Distinguished Toastmaster."

Twinspirations Toastmasters meets every Monday at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Cleveland Clinic Twinsburg Family Health and Surgery Center, 8701 Darrow Road in Twinsburg. The club is open to all who are interested and guests are welcome. For more information visit the club's Facebook page or call 330-801-6608.
