TWINSBURG -- After nearly two decades of use, the Twinsburg Fire Department has donated its old propane-fueled fire extinguisher trainer to Linde Gas of Twinsburg.

The department has replaced the older trainer with new high-tech digital laser equipment and the older trainer was declared surplus property by City Council.

Since Linde Gas donated the propane for the TFD's training classes over many years, the fire department donated the equipment to the Linde facility in Twinsburg, where it will be used to train Linde employees across the region, according to TFD officials.

Twinsburg Fire delivered the equipment to the Linde facility on June 12 and presented them with a plaque, showing appreciation for their partnership over the years. It is estimated that the old trainer was used to teach several thousand Twinsburg workers the safe operation of fire extinguishers.

Because of Linde's generosity, the city saved thousands of dollars in propane costs.
