Temple hosts
Russian-Jewish students

Temple Beth Shalom will host two Russian Jewish students -- Elena Basova and Anna Parsina -- at services July 20. The women are in the area as part of a camp counselor exchange sponsored by the Jewish Agency for Israel.

In Russia, these two university students from St. Petersburg are involved with Jewish life as counselors, teachers and students. They are in Northeast Ohio as part of a program that will help them learn new skills and gain new experiences.

Multi-church vacation Bible school scheduled

The Evangelical Covenant Church of Hudson, Holy Trinity Anglican Church and Western Reserve Christian Church are teaming up to present "Game Day Central: Where Heroes are Made," Aug. 6 through 10 from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 190 W. Streetsboro St., Hudson. Children in preschool through eighth grade are invited to attend this free program. An adult VBS class also will be offered for parents.

A "halftime" church picnic will be Aug. 8, beginning at 6 p.m. Hot dogs, chips and root beer will be served. Parents are invited to attend.

Throughout the week, the churches will be collecting school supplies which will be given to local children of military personnel. The community is invited to drop off donations during the week at the Evangelical Covenant Church.

Church serves pancakes
at Twins Days

Members of Christ the King Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 10285 Ravenna Road, will prepare and serve pancakes again this year in conjunction with the annual Twins Days Festival on Aug. 5.

The breakfast will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Twinsburg Recreation and Activities Center, on the festival grounds behind R.B. Chamberlin Middle School.

The breakfast, sponsored in cooperation with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, juice or milk, and coffee.

Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors 65 years and older and children 12 years and younger.

Visiting twins are invited to attend Saturday evening worship services at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday worship services at 8:30 and 10 a.m.

Rejoice hosts Bible school

Come "horse around" with Rejoice Lutheran Church for the "Avalanche Ranch, A Wild Ride Through God's Word" vacation Bible school, which will meet every evening, Aug. 5 to 10 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Streetsboro Knights of Columbus Hall, 9709 Page Road.

A light meal will be served at 6 p.m., followed by classes, crafts and games. Register online at www.rejoicelc.org, before or after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship at the Hudson American Legion Hall, 5790 Hudson Drive, or on-site on the first day of VBS.

The cost is $5 per child; $10 per family.

Take VBS at Hope Church

The VBS crew at Hope Community Church is preparing for a VBS water park adventure for children ages 2 through those in sixth grade. Children will take the plunge at Raise the Reef Praises, the Snack Shack, Craft-Away Cove, Oceans of Motion and Bibleland Bay. As children move from one activity to the next, they will soak up Bible lessons that will last a lifetime. The fun begins on July 30 and runs through Aug. 2. Each session will begin at 6:15 and end at 8:30 p.m. Call the church at 330-655-5170 to register. The church is located 3033 Middleton Road in Hudson.

Hope Community
hosts 'wacky' event

Hope Community Church, 3033 Middleton Road in Hudson, will host "Wet and Wacky Thursday" for all middle school students July 19 at 7 p.m. The free event includes a scavenger hunt, three-person water balloon slingshot contest, wacky relays, tournaments and prizes.
