Sanctuary hosts parent's night out

"Parent's Night Out" fundraiser will continue through September at the Sanctuary of Praise. Children ages 3 to 11 years will snack, watch children's movies and take part in fun-filled activities located in a safe environment, while parents enjoy an evening out. Fashion show and luncheon planned

A Fashion Show and Luncheon "Fall into Fashion" sponsored by Ss. Cosmas and Damian Women's Group, will be conducted Sept. 29 at 11:30 a.m. at Twinhaven Hall, 10419 Ravenna Road in Twinsburg. Fashions will be provided by Dress Barn in Bainbridge. Mayor Katherine Procop will be the guest speaker. Tickets are $15. Advance ticket sales can be obtained through Sept. 24. Proceeds from this event will go toward the group's charities.

Raffle tickets available

Tickets are available for the Ss. Cosmas and Damian Fundraiser. Donation is $100 per ticket for a chance to win one of five ($5,000, $4,000, $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000) cash prizes. Tickets are available for sale until Sept. 21 by calling Adrianne Radtke at 330-425-8141. All proceeds benefit the Twinhaven Roof Repair project.

Volunteer with
Faith in Action

The Faith In Action -- Interfaith Caregivers program is part of a nationwide network bringing together volunteers of many faiths to help people who have long-term health needs or disabilities maintain their independence by providing non-medical assistance with daily activities.

Volunteer activities may include shopping for groceries, providing rides to medical appointments, cooking meals, doing light housework, running errands and providing companionship through visits or phone calls.

Middle East conflict examined at Holy Trinity

Dorothy Drummond, author of the book "Holy Land Whose Land? Modern Dilemma, Ancient Roots," will be at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 55 Atterbury Blvd., Hudson, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. to discuss this topic.

On the following two Wednesdays (Sept. 19 and 26), the church will feature presentations by Sally Warburton on "The Challenge of Islam to Christianity." This will be done in the context of history and traditions with an offering of positive suggestions on the relationships between the two religions.

Drummond said she wrote her book to help readers understand the Middle East conflict. It is the outgrowth of extensive travel in the Middle East, as well as research to uncover the causes of conflict plaguing the region.

Bible series to begin
at Our Redeemer

A new fall series of adult Bible studies begins at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7196 SOM Center Road in Solon, Sept. 9. A variety of classes will be offered and are open to the community.

On Sunday mornings (9:15 a.m.) an hour-long adult Bible study forum will be led by new Associate Pastor Matthew Garred.

Two Bible studies will be offered specifically for women, on Thursday mornings (9:30 a.m.) and alternate Thursday evenings (5 p.m.). Free babysitting will be available.

One Bible study will also be offered specifically for men on alternate Friday mornings (6:30 a.m.). This class will be led by the Senior Pastor Powell Woods. Refreshments will be served.

The church also offers a Bible study for senior citizens on alternate Tuesday mornings (11:00 a.m.) and the hour-long class is followed each week by a pot-luck lunch. Transportation is available.

Puppet show offered

Rally Day will take place at Our Redeemer Sept. 9. This is the date that all of the children who attend Sunday school are promoted into their new classes. There will be a free continental breakfast and the children will be treated to a puppet show. Children will be able to tour their new classroom and meet their teacher.

Families with children from age 2 through the eighth grade are invited to enroll their children in this program. There is no charge to enroll or to participate in the Sunday school program, which is from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. each week.

Life Church offers
adult Sunday school

On Sept. 9 Life Church will offer adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. Worship Service begins at 10:45 a.m. in the lower level of the Nye Financial Group building, 7941 Ravenna Road, in Hudson.

Children's classes and nursery care are available.
