Shepard Road hosts
fall festival

Round up friends and family and head over to Shepard Road Christian Church for the "Wild West Fall Fest." The festival will be Oct. 7 from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. There will be carnival games, free candy, music and more than enough laughter to keep people smiling for days.

There will be games for children of all ages and a special section for preschoolers. Mom and dad can enjoy a cup of coffee while the children play games. Call the church at 330-467-5644 to register for the event. Shepard Road Christian Church is located at 9571 Shepard Road in Macedonia at the top of Ledge Road Hill.

Learn the
'Truth About Hip Hop'

The Music and Youth Departments at the Sanctuary of Praise will present "The Truth About Hip Hop," Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. at the church. This presentation will inform, empower and enlighten parents as well as students.

The Sanctuary of Praise also announces the 25th Pastoral Anniversary Services to honor senior pastor Bishop Dr. William B. Smith Sr. and assistant pastor First Lady Dr. Sherilyn M. Smith. Nightly services begin at 7:30 p.m. from Oct. 3 through 5. The celebration continues on Oct. 6 at St. Joseph's Family Center in Akron at 7 p.m. for a special banquet in their honor. Elder Jonathan Dunn, gospel recording artist, is the guest speaker on Oct. 7 at 11:30 a.m. and will also emcee the 6 p.m. Latter Glory Choir Concert scheduled for that evening at the church. Parkside Church hosts fall social for singles

Parkside Church's TrueLife Singles and Hudson Community Chapel's F.O.C.U.S. (Focus On Christ Uplifting Singles) invite adult singles to a fall social on Oct. 6 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Stone Ledge Farms, 9597 Darrow Road in Twinsburg. The groups are planning an evening of Christian fun, including fellowship, games, bonfire, food, group activities, s'mores and music. Hot dogs and bratwursts will be provided. Bring a side dish and pop or dessert to share.

Plan to eat about 6:30 p.m. and, later, gather around the bonfire. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. The social will be conducted rain or shine, as there is a barn at the location. Respond by Oct. 1 to John Sederwall, Parkside TrueLife Singles, at sederwall@aol.com.

TrueLife Singles is a Bible study and fellowship group at Parkside Church for singles 35 years and older, including those who are widowed and divorced.

Bible study set
for seniors

Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Solon offers a special Bible study for senior citizens on alternate Tuesdays, including Oct. 2, in their fellowship hall. This lively study is specially designed to meet the needs/faith life of seniors. Each one-hour study is followed by a delicious pot-luck lunch. This class is open to non-members and the community is encouraged to attend. Transportation is available. For more information, contact the church office at 440-248-4066.

The Pastoral Staff at Our Redeemer is also available by appointment for counseling and to visit those who are confined for reasons of health or advanced age.

Our Redeemer also invites members of the community to participate in small group Bible studies. A variety of these spiritual "cell groups" have sprung up at the church for people in every life-stage. The small group for high school youth is called "Cross Roads" and they meet on alternate Sunday evenings at 5 p.m. A small group for adults, couples and singles, also meets on Sunday evening.

A new small group for women called "Women Among Disciples" recently began and it will meet on alternating Monday evenings at 7 p.m. This in-depth course will explore the issues that confront women in their spiritual journey at home, at work and in community. This women's study will include new praise music. And, finally, a small group called "New Beginnings" is dedicated to the divorced and widowed. This groups meets on alternate Sunday afternoons.

'Scripture On Creation' comes to Destiny

On Sept. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. will be "Creation, Faith, and Science," and Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will be "Exploring Creation Day by Day" at Destiny Church Ministry Center, 9241 Ravenna Road, C8. Scripture On Creation emphasizes the glory of the creator as it is displayed in creation. These informative sessions go through the Genesis account of creation, while considering several of the issues involved in the conflict between the evolution and creation models for origins. Fashion show and luncheon planned

A fashion show and luncheon, "Fall into Fashion," sponsored by Ss. Cosmas and Damian Women's Group, will be conducted Sept. 29 at 11:30 a.m. at Twinhaven Hall, 10419 Ravenna Road in Twinsburg. Fashions will be provided by Dress Barn in Bainbridge. Mayor Katherine Procop will be the guest speaker.
