Twinsburgbulletin.com - School levies pass comfortably

Twinsburg " Community voters showed they agree with the Board of Education, the school district's superintendent, assistant superintendent and treasurer that the two school levies on the Nov. 6 ballot were important
to the welfare of Twinsburg schools.
Issue 15, a five-year, 6.9-mill operating tax levy renewal that will generate approximately $5.4 million per year, passed with 71 percent of people voting for the issue, according to final but unofficial results from the Summit County Board of Elections.
Issue 16, a continuing 2.75-mill permanent improvement tax levy renewal that will bring in $2.1 million per year to the district, also passed, as approximately 70 percent of voters voted for the levy, according to the elections board.
"Our district would like to thank the voters,"
said Assistant Superintendent Mike Lenzo. "We're extremely appreciative of the community's support of our schools. These renewals will allow us to continue the excellent
progress we have made, as well as allow for more consistent planning over the next couple of years."
"This is not an increase in taxes," said School Board Vice President David Andrews. "Both levies are essential to continuing the operation of the district."
"This levy provides the financial support needed for long-term improvements to the district's facilities, as well as technology and transportation upgrades," Board President Kate Cain-Criswell added.
The owner of a $100,000 home will continue
to pay about $296 per year for both levies combined, district treasurer Martin Aho explained.
