Police News: Man wanted in California found in Twinsburg motel

Twinsburg -- Police received an anonymous tip Feb. 27 about a California man wanted in his home state for a parole violation who was staying in a local motel.

A Twinsburg detective went to the motel the next day and located a 39-year-old man in the office area who matched the suspect's description.

The man was detained until the Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigation concluded the man was the person who had been issued the warrant.

He was arrested, transported to Summit County Jail and is awaiting extradition to California.

Theft

Feb. 21: Car break-ins reported -- Twinsburg police responded to the Lake Plata home development for a theft from an auto report. Three vehicles in the development were broken into that morning and items were taken, the report stated.

An investigation is pending.

Feb. 21: Steel container taken -- An officer responded to an Aurora Road business for a theft report. The owner stated a steel container, valued at $1,280, was taken from the rear of the building Feb. 20 around 3 p.m. An investigation is pending.

Assault

Feb. 22: Brawl leads to arrests -- Twinsburg police and EMS responded to an East Aurora bar and restaurant for a report of assault where one man suffered head and facial injuries.

The report said the victim was treated for his injuries at a local hospital.

Officers arrested three men on charges of assault: A 46-year-old Darrow Road man, a 19-year-old Nautilus Trail man and a 21-year-old Hillsdale Drive man.

Warrants

Feb. 23: Bicyclist arrested -- As a 56-year-old Stanford Street man rode his bicycle on the Route 82 bridge over Interstate 480, a passing officer noticed he matched the description of a resident who had been issued an arrest warrant by Sagamore Hills police on an unspecified violation.

The officer arrested the man and turned him over to Sagamore Hills police.

The bike was impounded.

Feb. 24: Felony warrant -- An officer on patrol observed a vehicle registered to a 49-year-old Bedford man going eastbound on Route 82.

A police database showed the man had an active felony warrant through the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office for possession of dangerous drugs.

The officer followed the man into a food market parking lot and arrested him. The man was transported to the Twinsburg Police Department where he was held for transfer to the CCSO.

Feb. 25: Fake money leads to arrest -- Officers responded to a township home for a report of a man there who had a counterfeit $20 bill.

After investigating, officers determined the man was unaware the bill was counterfeit and confiscated the bill.

Officers then discovered the person who called police about the bill, a 37-year-old Bellaway Drive man, had been issued an arrest warrant through the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office for an unspecified violation, and they took him into custody.

Feb. 26: Suspect found -- The Ravenna Police Department requested Twinsburg police attempt to locate a 44-year-old Pebble Creek man who was wanted by their agency for telephone harassment, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Twinsburg officers located the man at an unspecified location, took him into custody and transported him to Ravenna.

Feb. 28: Parking break leads to arrest -- An officer parked his cruiser in a Darrow Road restaurant parking spot. When the officer exited his car and looked into the car beside him, he saw a 20-year-old Glenwood Circle woman allegedly preparing a smoking device with suspected marijuana.

The woman was charged with drug abuse and drug possession, and given a court date of March 3. She was released from the scene.

Twinsburg Township Domestic violence

March 1: Argument involves knife -- A deputy responded to a Twinsburg Road home for a report that the owner, a 70-year-old man, had allegedly used a knife to threaten another man.

A Euclid man told the responding deputy that the owner made threats of physical harm toward him as they argued over household items.

The deputy searched the owner and found a steak knife in his back left pocket, the report stated. The owner was taken into custody, charged with aggravated menacing and domestic violence, and transported to the Summit County Jail.

Warrant

March 3: Suspect transported -- Macedonia police arrested a 45-year-old Sagamore Hills man at an Aurora Road business on a domestic violence warrant. A deputy was asked to pick up the man at the business and transport him to Summit County Jail.
