Earth Day is April 22. But people don't have to wait until then to do something good. Help remove scrap metal, old appliances, lumber and trash from the area surrounding the North Ledges at Liberty Park April 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and get a sneak peek of this area, which is not yet open to the public. The volunteer cleanup begins at the Recreation Area parking lot at 9385 Liberty Road in Twinsburg. Required registration can be made by contacting Laura Franchetti, volunteer coordinator, at lfranchetti@summitmetroparks.org or 330-864-3006. Volunteers should dress for off-trail work. Bring a hat and work gloves, and wear sturdy boots or shoes. Water and a light snack will be provided. Metro Parks, Serving Summit County manages more than 9,000 acres, including 13 developed parks, six conservation areas and more than 120 miles of trails, with 16 miles of the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail.
