Twinsburg -- Two Twinsburg High School seniors were among 53 seniors from 28 Summit County high schools recognized by one of the city's biggest employers April 23 at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Kaitlin Petrilli and Andrew White were winners of the good citizenship award at the 46th Summit County Citizenship Youth Awards, sponsored by the Twinsburg Chrysler Stamping Plant.

"The award is a positive influence on my future," said Petrilli, who will attend Mount Union College in Alliance in the fall as an education major.

White said he will attend Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania as a business major.

"The award will give me something to look back on and be proud of," White said.

The 340 THS seniors selected three boys and three girls who they thought were good citizens according to the award criteria, said Melanie Bushey, a high school guidance counselor. The criteria was based on scholarship, leadership, integrity, loyalty, school involvement and character.

The high school faculty then picked the winners from that group, Bushey said.

Superintendent Stephen Marlow said he is familiar with the awards.

"I, too, was a Chrysler award winner in 1980," Marlow said, noting he felt it was a "privilege" to be involved with the program again.
