Baseball team gets split The host Twinsburg baseball team earned a split with Olentangy April 26. The Tigers lost the second game by a 5-4 score in eight innings after posting a 6-1 victory in the first game. Olentangy beat Twinsburg (11-6) in a Division I state semifinal contest in 2005. In the second game, Justin Szydlowski (1-3) took the loss on the mound. Szydlowski did have two hits and two runs batted in at the plate. Mike Dinkeldein hit his first home run of the season for Twinsburg. Olentangy took a 3-0 lead with two runs in the first inning and one in the second. The Tigers scored a run in the third, but Olentangy took a 4-1 lead after scoring a run in the top of the fifth. Twinsburg cut its deficit to 4-3 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and tied the game with a run in the sixth. The Tigers finished with 10 hits and two errors. Olentangy had 13 hits and no errors. In the first game, Twinsburg took control with five runs in the first. Both teams scored a run in the fifth and Tigers pitcher Jamie Hora picked up the win to improve to 3-0. Darius Washington got the save. Matt Wallin had two doubles and drove in two runs. He also scored two runs to lead Twinsburg's offense. Justin Fodor, Chuck Rice and Szydlowski each had two hits. Difranco runs in race Twinsburg resident Mike Difranco, 33, placed 19th in the male 25-through-34 age group and 123rd overall with a time of 27 minutes, 20.1 seconds at the Julie Zajac Memorial 5K race April 13 in Cleveland.
