There are two people who I believe serve Twinsburg Township with integrity and grace as Trustees, and they should be praised for their willingness to take a stand against county politicians and others to correct a great injustice against the residents and taxpayers living in the township. As a taxpaying resident of the township, I feel Trustees Carol Gasper and Jim Balogh have won a victory for the people that frees township residents from an outrageous deal that I do not feel any thinking leader would have foisted on 2,300 people. The deal to lease/purchase the Darrow Road building, consisting of 69,000 square feet of space, from the Geis Co. and in cooperation with the Summit County Port Authority, is now history as it should be. It is interesting that the property sat vacant for many years and could not command a market price of even $1.5 million. The price of the deal made with the Port Authority was more than $5 million over 20 years (plus interest, making the total cost close to $10 million for the township). The Port Authority people can say what they want, but in my mind this deal was a folly of errors from the beginning and was never officially approved by the taxpayers and voting residents. The Port Authority was willing to participate in this outrageous project from the very beginning. Thank you, Carol and Jim, for all that you have accomplished. Your integrity has been rewarded.
