Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has sided with Summit County Board of Elections Democrats to break tie votes on issues regarding early voting schedules.
The Job Center in Akron, where Summit County residents can vote early, will stay open weekdays until 8 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. from Sept. 30 to Nov. 3, Brunner, a Democrat, decided. Election Day is Nov. 4.
Republican Board members Brian Daley and Jack Morrison Jr. had voted against Sunday hours and for an 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekday schedule. They said the extra hours would strain the Board of Elections budget. The two Democrats on the Board - Tim Gorbach and Wayne Jones - voted for the extended hours.
