ARTHUR B. ROACH
Served in the Merchant Marines
Arthur B. Roach Jr., 83, of Oakwood Village, died June 15, 2009, at Standford Commons Nursing Home of COPD and blood cancer.
Mr. Roach was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Bedford, graduating Bedford High School. He worked as a house painter for himself and Marvin Sommers and served in the Merchant Marines in 1944 as a seaman. He was involved in the Moose Club of Northfield, as well as a local VFW chapter.
Mr. Roach was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn (West); and parents Mildred (Brown) McEldowney and Arthur B. Roach.
He is survived by children Rosemary (nee Thomas) Cesa; son-in-law John Cesa; nieces and nephews Joyce and Mike Szabo, Scott West, Jeffrey West and Tommy J. West; and great-nieces and nephews Tom S. Szabo, Brian West, Denise West, Michael West and Nicole West. Private services were conducted in Bedford at the F.J. Corrigan Funeral Home.
