Twinsburg — The police department has welcomed its newest member to the force. Yasso, a 1-year-old male German shepherd, has completed a six-week training program with his new partner and handler, Officer Darrin Fate.

Fate is a seven-year veteran of the Twinsburg Police Department.

Yasso, who weighs 75 pounds and still has two more years to grow, was born in Germany and is trained in narcotics detection, tracking and building and area searches.

Fate and Yasso will join K-9 Officer Brian Donato and his four-legged partner, Niko, as one of two K-9 teams on the department.

Donato and Niko are assigned to the night shift while Fate and Yasso will cover the day shift.
