Streetsboro -- The doors opened on schedule at Robinson Health Center at Streetsboro, following an "incredibly smooth transition," said Jack Monda, administrative director of Robinson Health Affiliates.
Monda said the seven Robinson affiliated practices closed their area offices July 9 and 10 in preparation for the move, and opened July 13.
"Jane Davis, who's the manager of this facility, organized it. It was through her direction that [the move] went so smoothly," said Monda.
Chief Operating Officer for Robinson Memorial Hospital Richard Clough said MedCenter One and the imaging center opened at 8 a.m. and some of the practices opened at 9 a.m.
Robinson employees "really worked their tales off" to get the facility open in time, he added.
Kent resident Cassi Rhodes, with her children Gage, 17 months, and Makenna, 5 months, said the new location works better for her.
"It's closer for me," she said. "I used to go out a little further on Route 14."
She said the facility looks "really nice."
Streetsboro resident Marjorie Thomas agreed, calling the new facility "gorgeous."
Ground was broken for the $21 million, 75,000-square-foot facility in April 2008.
It employs about 83, and could expand to add about 15 new jobs in the coming year, according to Clough.
Jennifer Farquhar, marketing and public relations coordinator for Robinson, said a ribbon cutting and grand opening event is set for 5 p.m. Aug. 6. She said the event is for Robinson employees, staff, and administrators, but the Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce and Acting Mayor Art Scott also will attend and speak.
The public can get a good look at the facility at an open house on Aug. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m., she said.
Robinson Health Center in Streetsboro, 9424 Route 14, is located at the corner of routes 14 and 43 in Streetsboro and can be accessed from either state route.
