Obituary: Raymond L. Troxtell

Served as Twinsburg High School principal

Raymond L. Troxtell, 71, of Reminderville, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010. He was the husband of Emily (nee Greenberg); father of Tobie (John) Lane, Trisha (Steve) Sudler, and Ryan Troxtell; step-father of Daniel (Heidi) Jones, Ken (Barbara) Jones and Ron (Christine) Jones; grandfather of Madeleine and Ethan Lane, Kyle and Caroline Sudler, Brittany, Molly, Lindsey, Matthew, Tova, Aaron and Amanda Jones; and brother of William (Nancy) Troxtell.

Raymond was born in Burnside, Ky., Feb. 27, 1938. He graduated from South Amherst High School in 1956. He then earned his bachelor's in education from Ashland College in 1960 and his master in education from Kent State University in 1967.

Ray served his country in the U.S. Army as a military policeman, stationed at Fort Dix in Germany from 1962 through 1964. He was principal at Clearview High School from 1972 through 1977, Twinsburg High School from 1972 through 1988 where he worked diligently to develop the Fine Arts Program, and Newton Falls High School from 1988 to 1990.

He loved fishing, hunting and telling jokes and stories of his former students. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Avenue in Cleveland 44106 or to The Autism Society of Greater Cleveland, P.O. Box 41066 Brecksville 44141.

Friends were received Jan. 18 at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home of Bedford, where services were conducted Jan. 19, 2010, at 10 a.m. Private burial was in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
