Twinsburg -- When Libby Brawley saw a Kraft Singles commercial advertising the cheese maker's contest to find the "Single Best Town" in America, she knew she would enter her hometown.

"The best town is Twinsburg because of the Twins Days Festival ... that's an easy answer," Brawley said March 15.

Brawley, an Aurora resident who grew up in Twinsburg and graduated from Twinsburg High School in 2000, submitted an essay to Kraft Singles that sang the praises of Twinsburg and Twins Days. Out of nearly 1,000 nominations, Twinsburg was chosen as one of 10 finalists, said Maggie Maskery, spokesperson for Kraft Foods.

"I am delighted that Twinsburg is a finalist thanks to Libby's efforts," said Mayor Katherine Procop. "This shows a great deal of community pride."

Anyone can log on to www.familyfun.com/best-town-contest through April 11 vote for their favorite of the 10 towns. The winning town will be announced on the Web site April 14.

Sandy Miller, spokesperson for the Twins Days Festival Committee, said she has notified twins asking them to vote for Twinsburg.

"It's a great feeling to know that we are doing something positive for Twinsburg," Miller said, adding that the 2010 festival is scheduled for Aug. 7 and 8.

"I have always enjoyed going to the Twins Days Festival," Brawley said. "When I was younger, my brother and I tried to sneak in as twins."

In recent years, Brawley enjoys taking her sons, Austin, 6, and Luke, 4, to the Double Take Parade each summer.

Kraft Singles will host a block party for the winning town that will feature performances by country music group Love and Theft, as well as appearances by ABC Soap Stars.

"We will coordinate with the town to determine the best time to throw the block party," said Clayton Wai-Poi, senior brand manager for Kraft Foods. "It would probably occur a few months following the end of the contest."

Wai-Poi said that last year Kraft launched a campaign coining Kraft Singles as "The American Cheese."

"This campaign is a way of broadening that by recognizing small towns across America," he said.
