Why not uniforms at Twinsburg Schools, grades 4-12

February 9, 2007

This is just an idea for a possible article that the Bulletin may want to feature, since the Cleveland Public Schools are considering changing to school uniforms. I was wondering if the Twinsburg Public Schools ever considered having all students wear uniforms? My family and I have only been in the district for 2 years, by the way, and I was wondering if this had ever been considered by the local school district.

I just voted on your online question regarding a strict dress code for all public schools. I was thinking the Twinsburg Public Schools should consider wearing uniforms, at least in the upper grades, 4-12. In general, older male students sometimes wear pants which are ready to fall off and females wear tops and pants so tight, they appear to be painted on. If they only knew how much better they could appear with some basic modesty applied to their school wardrobe choices.

Uniforms would avoid all of this, plus, help keep everyone"s focus on education. Uniforms would eliminate the pressure to compete with clothes and appearances and save parents the expense of escalating clothing costs. A uniform policy would save staff the hassle of enforcing a dress code also.

Just some thoughts to consider for a future article- thanks for reading.
