Gas vapors

Feb. 4: Odors reported -- An East Idlewood Drive daycare business and officials at Dodge Intermediate School both reported smelling gas vapors outside in the morning. Emergency workers sent to both locations learned that the vapors were coming from an oil well being drilled on private property off Ravenna Road, northwest of Center Valley Parkway, Ketner said.

Fire officials talked with workers at the site, who said they had anticipated hitting a pocket of trapped natural gas and that the wind had carried the non-harmful vapors to areas along Ravenna Road, Ketner said. The vapors dissipated later that day, and no one reported injuries from it, he said.

Drug trafficking

Jan. 1: Man with warrant has suspected drugs -- At 11 p.m., officers arrested an 18-year-old Darren Lane man who had a warrant for failure to comply with a sound-making device issued through Twinsburg police. After searching him, police reported finding several plastic bags of suspected marijuana in his pants pockets. He was charged with the warrant and with drug trafficking.

Assault

Jan. 4: Resident assaulted by stranger -- A Richner Road trailer park resident reported being assaulted by a stranger who came into her home around 7 p.m. Police said the victim did not need medical attention, and they were unable to locate a suspect in the area.

Theft

Jan. 23: Snowplow missing from shop -- The manager of an East Aurora Road automotive shop reported that between the evening of Jan. 22 and the morning of Jan. 23, someone stole a snowplow blade, valued at $500, from his car parked outside of the building.

Driving violations

Feb. 3: Driver had suspended license -- Police stopped a car with a shattered windshield and dangling car parts traveling east on Interstate 480 and learned the driver had a suspended license and warrant from Summit County Sheriff's Office for failure to appear for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The 38-year-old man from Ravenna was charged with driving under suspension, driving an unsafe vehicle, drug abuse and drug paraphernalia. He was released to the sheriff's department on a $500 cash bond.

Domestic violence

Feb. 3: Mother charged -- Deputies responded to a Case Street home in response to a call of domestic dispute and determined a 36-year-old mother of four was allegedly being physically violent with her 17-year-old son.

His injuries were minor and he refused treatment, police said.

Deputies said when they told the woman she was under arrest for domestic violence and tried to handcuff her, she yelled profanities and became argumentative. Her four children also tried to intervene, they reported. She was charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest and was transported to Summit County Jail.

Her other children were not injured, the report stated, and all four were taken into protective custody of Summit County Children's Services.
