Twinsburg High School's Great Expectations Show Choir celebrated the end of its competition season by bringing home the coveted Grand Championship trophy at the Shelbyville, Ind., competition on March 15. The show choir astounded the audience by rebounding from fourth place at the preliminaries and capturing highest honors. Matt Sellman, of Great Expectations, who was awarded Most Outstanding Performer, reflected on the choir's comeback by stating, "It proves our talent and will to fight back."

As proud representatives of Ohio, Twinsburg fought valiantly against 11 choirs from the homestate talents of Indiana high schools, including the finalists from Whiteland, Lawrence North, Noblesville, Churubusco and Kokomo. The other Ohio choir performing at finals was East High School from Sciotoville.

This year's championship show entitled "Chronology" reminds people "not to worry about the future -- it comes all too soon" and it has proven to entertain.

The music program is directed by Nancy Slife, Mitch Benko and Randy Lanoue. It is rare in the show choir world to find directors such as Slife and Benko who provide their own unique musical arrangements and choreography.

The show opens with "World/The Future Has Arrived/This Is The Time" arrangement and then moves into "It's All Been Done Before."

The ballad "The Future Ain't What It Used To Be" includes a solo by London Goines, performed at the Indiana competition for the first time. Providing another debut performance was Dana Fry, who moves the program into the "Yesterday Once More" mix -- a clever medley of songs from across generations without a single word being sung.

To close the show, the choir sings "Back in Time/Time Explosion," which includes a dance break performed in forward and then in reverse.

After enjoying their spring trip to Virginia Beach, Va., the choir will provide fans one last chance to see the "Chronology" competition show at the high school's Fine Arts Festival on April 30.

The citizens of Twinsburg will have the opportunity to support the ongoing endeavors of the Twinsburg Vocal Music program during Tag Day, coming on April 5, as well as a flower sale.
