'Diary' show draws crowd

April 3, 2008

R.B. Chamberlin's Eighth-Grade Drama Club presented "The Diary of Anne Frank" by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett March 13 and 14 in the R.B. Chamberlin Middle School Auditorium at 10270 Ravenna Road.

The play used about 30 crew members and 36 cast members. Eighth-grade teacher Dave Ciborek and seventh-grade teacher Margaret McGing also assisted.

Anne Frank was a Jewish 13-year-old who was forced into hiding during the Holocaust. Anne and her family, along with four others, spent 25 months during World War II in small, cramped annex rooms above her father's office.

After a betrayal by an unknown person or persons, Anne, her family, and the others living with them were arrested and deported to Nazi concentration camps.

Sadly, only one member survived and saved Anne's diary for the world to read.
