Diabetes swim
raises $260,000
The Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland hosted its 23rd annual "Swim for Diabetes," sponsored by Verizon Wireless and conducted April 4, 5 and 6 at 73 pools in eight counties, including the Twinsburg Fitness Center.
The event raised more than $260,000 as of April 24.
Locally, more than 1,600 participants of all ages and abilities swam laps, water walked, volunteered or just stayed dry to raise money for diabetes and compete for great prizes.
DAGC is the only local and independent organization (not a chapter of any national organization) dedicated to improving the lives of people with diabetes by leading Northeast Ohio in its prevention, management and cure since 1954.
Every dollar raised remains in the community to support free diabetes risk assessment and education programs, fund local diabetes research and support Camp Ho Mita Koda for children with diabetes.
Free diabetes risk assessments are offered every Tuesday morning by appointment at the office, call 216-591-0800. Visit www.dagc.org for more information.
