Live at the Library

May 8, 2008

Many times small communities are thought to be small-minded -- as if a lack of size determines foresight and imagination. Lucky for the Twinsburg library, then, that Karen Tschudy came 24 years ago and was inspired by the possibilities she found in a moderately-sized suburb. Tschudy stood in an 11,000-square-foot, land-locked building and got to work developing plans that two decades later have brought the library national recognition and made it a destination of choice for residents. It will be sad saying goodbye to her, but at the same time, library workers say they are happy that she can begin a well-earned retirement, knowing she is leaving a wonderful legacy. The public is welcome to join the Board of Trustees and the Friends of the Twinsburg Public Library in celebrating Tschudy's distinguished career during an open house in honor of her retirement on May 18 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Reference USA is a good resource

The Twinsburg Public Library offers a subscription database with information useful to business owners and individuals. Some of the answers it can provide include:

* Contact information for companies and its executives;

* Names and phone numbers for any U.S. or Canadian address, including customer analysis;

* Office information for medical specialists across the country; and

* Details about businesses for those seeking vendors, marketing help or information about competitors.

Reference USA contains listings for more than 14 million businesses and 210 million residents in the United States. It is often used for sales leads or to prepare a business plan, but would also be a good tool for party planners creating a guest list, or consumers wanting to contact a manufacturer. It is available both in the library or at home with a library card.
