Shaw promoted at Liberty Bank

Beachwood-based Liberty Bank, N.A., with an office on Darrow Road in Twinsburg, recently announced the appointment of Peter G. Shaw as vice president of commercial lending.

Shaw has more than 15 years of experience as a banking and finance professional. Prior to joining Liberty Bank, he served as business banking client manager in global commercial banking with Bank of America.

A resident of Cleveland Heights, Shaw earned a bachelor of science degree in sociology from Virginia Tech and a master's in business administration from The College of William and Mary.

With branch offices in Beachwood, Solon and Twinsburg, Liberty Bank serves local consumers and privately held businesses with sales of up to $25 million.

Goddard School in Twinsburg receives top honors

The Goddard School, located at 2608 Glenwood Drive in Twinsburg, received special internal recognition at the company's annual convention conducted at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, from April 9 through April 12.

School owners Jim and Randy Lindley received several awards, including the "Bullseye Award," and the "Occupancy Award."

The Goddard School, a national chain based in Pennsylvania, offers a year-round program for children from 6 weeks to 6-years-old. Children are encouraged to develop at their own pace.

Credit Union announces new president and CEO

Akron-based BFG Federal Credit Union, with a branch office in Twinsburg, announces the appointment of Michael Owens to president and chief executive office.

Owens joined BFG Federal Credit Union in 1991, and prior to his promotion, served as executive vice president. Owens came to BFG Federal Credit Union with more than 11 years of prior financial services experience.

He earned an undergraduate degree in political science from Hiram College and is a graduate of the Credit Union National Association Management School in Madison, Wisc.

As well, BFG announces the promotion of Cheryl Foster to executive vice president. Foster began her career at BFG more than 30 years ago and previously was chief financial officer. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Summit County Chapter of Credit Unions. Federal Credit Union is a community credit union open to all individuals, who live, work, worship, attend school or volunteer in Summit County.

DIY Dinners to support Relay For Life campaign

DIY Dinners, a local meal assembly business on the Twinsburg and Hudson border, will support four Relay For Life teams in Hudson, Stow and Macedonia and Twinsburg. DIY Dinners will donate 25 cents for every half portion of a DIY meal that is sold, and 50 cents for every full portion meal sold during May to the Relay For Life teams.
