Public posts can be 'thankless'
I would like to thank all our Council members who serve the community and all our school Board members who serve the schools. Both jobs can seem to be thankless. Decisions have to be made that some residents may like, and some may not. I think it's important for all residents to remember that Council positions and school Board positions are voted upon by residents. In past years, I have not seen a crowd of people lining up to run for a position. Many people have run unopposed in past years. These people on Council and on the school Board have stepped up to the challenge -- something that clearly very few residents can say they have done. The hours of time and work they put in extend well beyond two meetings per month. I am grateful that they have devoted their time and efforts to help make our city and schools the best that they can be. Rather than complain if you disagree with something, step up and make suggestions. Join a committee. Get involved. Attend meetings. There are so many opportunities to serve our community and our schools. I encourage everyone to seek out those opportunities.
