Columbus -- The state Controlling Board released $310,000 Aug. 22 for road improvements to accommodate a new Amazon.com sorting facility in Twinsburg.
The funds are being used to extend Independence Parkway to the south past State Route 82 and will include new utilities, curbing, sidewalks and related infrastructure, plus lighting and trees, according to documents.
The improvements will cost about $877,000, according to documents.
The road extension will "allow construction of a distribution building on a 15-acre site," where Amazon.com earlier announced intentions to locate a sorting facility.
The company has secured tax credits, an abatement and other state and local incentives for the 248,000-square-foot sorting facility.
With the state incentives, Amazon would commit to creating 150 full-time equivalent positions at the site, with a payroll of about $4 million, according to documents.
